Ross Hinter, wildlife control professional, bushcrafter

Ross Hinter is an educator, wildlife control professional, bushcrafter and artisan. He grew up in British Columbia, raising his family of five children during his early years working as a cowboy on the ranches of the Cariboo and the interior. Spending time with the Shushwap and Okanagan First Nations Peoples brought valuable insights and a respect for the land. It led him to an awareness and understanding of the fascinating world of wild animals and our complex connection to them and our natural world. His relationship with the bush has cultivated a respectful interaction with nature, and a deeper understanding of the early ways. Nature is not something apart from us humans and our consumptive practices. Ross has been featured in television commercials, news articles, Alberta Schools DVD production, instructor for Wilderness College, educator for University of Alberta Environmental Sciences classes, guide, Fur Institute of Canada — Stewards of the Land, instructor for Karamat Wilderness Ways, and was vice president of the Alberta Trappers’ Association for eight years.
