Jacob Shanbrom, design student, School of the Art Institute of Chicago

Jacob Shanbrom was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He grew up with a deep love of fashion and began sewing at the age of six, and making custom dresses in high school. At 16, he started interning in New York on Seventh Avenue in the garment district, and has been working since then for the likes of French Connection, Nicole Miller, Carlos Falchi, and Zana Bayne. He attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he studied fashion design, shoemaking, and fur. He received the Barbara Daniels award of excellence in his junior year for his collection entitled, ”Narcissism is the new Black”. As of 2016, he plans to move back east to New York after school in the hopes of working in the fashion industry in either accessories or fur design. School of the Art Institute of Chicago
