In reply to MQ. it's a fact of life that mankind is ever expanding into animal habitat. this will not change or get better . So managing the animal is necessary and do-able. Suggesting that mankind will change is naive.

What kind of a nut job would suggest culling people for the benefit of wildlife? Better solution to pack everyone not producing food into cities and leave the wild lands to the rest of us that understand the way of nature. That is for all those that are willing to give up freedom, result is look at history of Poland, pre WWII.

In reply to Alan. Most people would agree that the expanding human population is one of today's most pressing problems. Also the relentless desire for affluence increases demand for second homes in remote areas. But culling humans is not an option, as you know. The solution lies elsewhere, and until it's found, animal populations will need to be kept in check ... don't you think?

Nope, I’m not sold. The article was well written but, trapping for profit is no longer an acceptable practice. I’m definitely no tree-hugger but, we don’t need animal fur for clothing anymore and, as far as keeping animal populations in check, maybe we should think about culling our own species for once. Haven’t we already taken enough land from the wildlife?

As a trapper in the states, we have for the most part smaller private properties spread out over a county or two that we trap. And we typically are there for trapping season only and the land and trails have been maintained by the landowners in the offseason. My hat is off to you guys up there and all the work you put in. More than trappers you are land managers
