fur has it own class , you can say that fur is winter fashion but you can see almost every thing companies using fur on bags, lady purses , shoes as well.

I found it interesting that you state that fur plays a big role in protecting us from the elements. My brother and I are heading up to Canada for some hunts this summer and we want to stay warm while we are there. I will keep this in mind while we are looking for sheepskin coats that we can wear.

Sheesh! I’ve had to walk to work and wait for buses in this polar vortex in Chicago. Don’t tell ME I’m wearing for fashion! Plus, I’ve had my full length fur (Beaver) for 28 years! I’m a home care nurse and have several patients in one area and walk to their homes…in all seasons but during winter I’m wearing my huge, goofy looking hooded BEAVER coat. I cannot tell you how many winters in Chicago this coat has kept me so warm which…is why I bought it.

In reply to daniel kramer. Yes! i agree with you fur is not for fashion. In coldest location people use fur to keep them warm. In other location people use fur for fashion too. But the point is that it's mainly use in winter.

That’s a valid point, Anne, and one that we addressed in this post: https://truthaboutfur.com/fur-trade-needs-frivolous-high-fashion/ In short, animals are not raised for the purpose of making accessories. Handbags etc. are made from low-quality or damaged pelts, while smaller accessories are made from scraps or parts that are usually used only for trim, like tails.

I do not think a hand bag made of mink fur like the ones sold by Maxmara has any practical purpose. I do not get it at all. Please explain why you would defend the raising and killing minks for handbags.

In reply to Furs. No, it is the opposite. Most people buy furs for warmth and a very small number may buy them only for fashion. But for the most part, furs are winter clothing to keep you warm in cold weather.

Totally agree that the function of furs was the reason they started to be used in the first place. Now in the coldest cities (as you posted in one comment) that is the reason but in most of the world it is fashion that makes people wear them.
