Just FYI, the video in question was proven to be staged years before the investigation by the International Fur Federation, but the IFF was apparently not aware of certain evidence when it made its report. That evidence was a section of unedited, original audio in which the cameramen can be heard giving instructions in English, through a translator, for the raccoon dog to be skinned alive. I’m not making this up. I’ve heard the audio, and it was reported on by Fur Commission USA.

You don’t even make a product, you steal skin for a living! The truth about fur is it’s an industry built on death with a delusional organization that thinks they have dominion over animal’s with fur.

Words like welfare and humane don’t exist in the fur industry. It is a business built around taking lives and wearing their skin!

Animal welfare and animal rights are two very different things…animal welfare is let’s exploit animals in a “nice way,” and as with any social justice movement you don’t make things better by creating a nicer way of exploitation.

This is the most disconnected and appalling article I’ve ever read trying to justify killing animals in order to wear their skin. Skin that does not belong to you. A sentient being’s life is worth more than a fur hat. There are so many alternatives that don’t need to involve unnecessary cruelty, violence, and death. In this modern day anyone can change their materials and make their business more sustainable, A single video trying to be discredited amongst thousands? Cruel footage is so rampant of animal abuse in industries like fur you don’t even have sift through it.

Even if this were true, then men still agreed to do it and followed through. They have an entire business yet can’t afford a single meal? Most people don’t want to be seen as cruel or animal abusers, these guys got caught so why wouldn’t they make up a lie. Are we really going to believe signed affidavits from men who make a living by taking the lives of animals?

FUR IS DEAD. There is no justification for breeding and killing sentient beings in order to wear their skin. Taking the life of an animal is cruel and abusive. Reducing an animal’s life to a clothing piece is violent, cruel, and disgusting. You cannot do anything violent humanely.

Common sense says that animals have to be killed for fur, whether they’re skinned alive or gassed first. No matter how humanely they’re raised this is the end result, and there’s no way around it. It’s fundamentally cruel and unnecessary, and there’s no justification for it.

The fur trade has never said that cruelty is non-existent. There will always be the occasional rogue player who fails to apply ethical practices, just as there will be in any field of human endeavour.But your question about allegedly skinning animals alive is an important one. Animal rights groups continue to say farmed furbearers are skinned alive because (a) it’s a highly emotive image that many people believe because, deep down, they want to believe it, and (b) surprisingly weak laws do not deter them from lying in this way. The Western world seems to have accepted that defamatory and false accusations from animal rights groups are a part of life that we just have to live with. Hopefully one day that will change, and the public will open their eyes.

Assuming that, as you say, cruelty to animals in the fur industry isn’ t real, what is the purpose of an Animal Organization when it decides to say “they’re skinning animals alive”?

More importantly there are some real bad activists out there who would use photo op cruelty as the norm in order to generate recoil against fur industry folk who would never attempt to skin animals alive because it is not only cruel but an assurance of downgrading your pelts. Fur industry is best served by skinning dead animals & reduction of worth that a pelt taken from a live animal complete with nicks & excessive blood from a pumping heart would produce. Folks need to be more cognizant of reality.

Sorry, you’re wrong. I have seen all of the video that’s available and, more importantly, listened to the original unedited audio. Without any doubt whatsoever, this particular video was staged. Please try to accept that some animal rights groups are prepared to go to any lengths to advance their cause.
