May be so, competition for a sale/purchase is for sure what is needed to get best price but as a trapper it's us the first person involved in putting fur on the block, we want it to be fair and only that. As I speak I am still owed money from NAFA after told all lies why checks bounced etc by their employees. Honesty is IMO the very best policy in any industry! What happened to the way it used to be back in the 70's and 80's. Too many people for too few dollars and lack of experience maybe? Social media can be good if done correctly but it certainly can get out of hand in a rush!

You write: "Chances are you know this stuff already, but a lot of people outside of the fur trade don’t, and the sources they rely on for information can be completely out of date. Take Wikipedia, for example. This is a wildly popular information source for millions of users, yet as of October 2023 it still states that NAFA is the largest fur auction house in North America."

This is not a problem of Wikipedia. It is an shameful problem for the fur branch. It is above all your job to update it is your business, your money, not the mission of volunteer co-workers of the encyclopedia.

If FHA treated the smaller buyers better the sales would be better. Now many of us buy directly from trappers rather than deal with the hassles from the auction. We recognize the quality and the relationship established with the producers. It is good for both parties. The biggest challenge is the limited tanneries available.
